At Home Masks 

With the ever increasing cost of skin care products, many women are spending time at home looking after their own beauty regime. Apart from homemade skin recipes, at home masks are becoming very popular. Not only do you get to relax in your own time in your own space at home, you can take advantage of many natural and often organic ingredients to make homemade face masks to replenish our skin and make savings on the money you would have spent at a beauty salon. 

If you're not yet familiar with the basics of making your own face mask, it would be  a good idea to gather a little knowledge on homemade masks; you can easily buy inexpensive books through the internet for ideas and guidance for at home masks. You can also find a range of adopted methods of cleansing and nourishing, with simple at home masks to maintain and keep your skin good looking and in a healthy condition. 

Study the many natural and simple ingredients you can use to make your mask at home that can be used safely. Think in terms of your mask being a natural way to repair and enhance your skin, by the cleansing of toxins and adverse impurities. 

You are probably already aware of the type of skin you have, if not, find out what type it is, such as oily skin, ageing skin, dry skin, or even a combination. This will help ensure your mask process will be good and beneficial to you. Before using any type of mask, clean your face thoroughly with a face cleanser that you can also make at home from simple skin care recipes. 

Before commencing with your first face mask, pin or tie back your hair so it is clear of your face and neck.  Here are a few easy mask recipe ideas that when prepared, you simple apply to your facial area with the tips of your fingers to your nose, chin, cheek, neck and forehead then sit down, relax, just leave in place for around 20 minutes then remove with wipes and wash, repeat weekly. The following will give you an insight and the general idea of making homemade masks:- 

For Normal Skin

blemishes or spots, add 1 tablespoon of pure lemon juice to the mix.

For Oily Skin 

Take 2 tablespoons of original yogurt and 1 tablespoon of brewer’s yeast and mix to light, fine mixture and apply.  After removing from the face, rinse your face with cold water for closure. 

For Dry Skin 

Preferably, mix ½ of a fresh avocado (or use 2tsp avocado oil) with ¼ cup of honey, 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

For Normal Skin 

Take the white of 1 eggs and mix with 1 tablespoon of apple juice, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, add ½ cup of instant, pre-cooked oatmeal, 2 parts of milk and 1 part of fuller’s earth clay, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and mix to a smooth paste then apply.  If you have a few face blemishes or spots, add 1 tablespoon of pure lemon juice to the mix.

Combination Skin 

Take the white of 1 egg, ½ cup of cooked instant oatmeal, add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and mix till smooth.  Make a Rose Mask: This mask is good for both the oily and dry areas of your skin.

Soak 5 rose petals and soak in water and then crush them. Add 2 tablespoons of rosewater, 1 tablespoon of standard yogurt and 1 Tablespoon of honey (heat in a microwave for a few second to melt it) and mix well.

Apart from the simple to make at home masks just described, they, like all mask recipes, whether simple or more involved, not only nourish and repair our skin, but they all allow us to enjoy our own time and relax or do what you want to do whilst at home.  Apart from being cost effective, it does not involve using expensive salons.
