Oatmeal Exfoliating Facial Scrub
Take 4 parts of instant oatmeal to 1 part water and mix to manageable
paste. Dab the mix using your fingertips, and cover all the
face. Use warm water to remove after 4 minutes.
Papaya Exfoliating Facial Scrub
Mash a papaya thoroughly using a food blender or processor. Spread the
paste over your face and leave for 20 minutes. Using warm water,
remove and dab dry your face.
When exfoliating your face, do not be tempted to use any type of oils,
soap or lotions and always apply your mixtures by gently dabbing on, not rubbing. The use of water should just be lukewarm and not hot which creates a ‘drying
out’ effect of the skin and keeps the pores open longer. There are
many face mask recipes to be found, below you will find one reliable recipe for each of the three main skin
types.
Recipes for face masks:-
Dry Skin – Fresh Carrot Face Mask
Any carrot based mask is excellent for dry skin and provides a pleasing
skin tone.
Add to 1 egg yolk, to 2 small/medium fresh finely grated carrots, and
mix. Apply the mix to your face, then lie down and place 1 slice of cucumber over each eye and leave all in
place for 20 minutes. Remove using soft wipes and lukewarm
water. To benefit from the natural nutrients for dry skin, it is
better to do this procedure twice a week. The skin will become
smooth and soft, revitalised by the trace elements and vitamins from the carrots and helps reduce
wrinkling.
Oily Skin – Egg White Face Mask
Recipes that include egg white and honey are very good at controlling
oily skin. Also do a search for homemade vinegar oily skin toners, great for reducing excess skin oil and are an
excellent skin cleanser.
Take one teaspoon of honey, one teaspoon of pure
lemon juice, one teaspoon of olive oil, and one egg white. Mix
thoroughly with a mixer/blender to consistent paste. Apply to your face. After 30 minutes, remove using warm water and dab dry.
Normal Skin – Honey and Apple Face Mask
This recipe is also good for acne. Apple is a natural exfoliator as it contains glycolic acid and honey is a
natural moisturizer, calming the skin.
Take two tablespoons of honey and a cored and segmented
apple. Place the apple pieces into a
blender/mixer to finely chop. Add the honey and mix. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes then remove and apply the mix to your face
using your fingertips to dab on. Remove after 30 minutes using warm
water and wipes. Softly dry.
When using any recipe for the first time you should first test the
recipes on your skin as we all sometimes react to untried ingredients applied to our skin. Apply to a small area and leave on for 20 minutes then rinse of
thoroughly. Check your skin after 24 hours.
As you can see, making homemade recipes for face masks is easy and
fun. You will often feel improvement to your face skin almost
immediately after removing your chosen recipe, but generally the next morning.
